Based in Central Florida, Jonell Melville is a self-taught artist who specializes in fashion and beauty illustration. Utilizing watercolor, Sumi ink, pencil, gouache, and digital illustration, Jonell loves to draw women of color in elevated, fashion-forward scenes, runway sketches from NYFW, PFW, and Milan Fashion Week, accessories (especially jewelry), and florals.

Jonell’s style is characterized by bold line work that is both structured and unencumbered. This juxtaposed technique creates illustrations that are reminiscent of comic art. When she’s not sketching the latest fashion find, Jonell is most likely vintage shopping, exploring new eats around town, reading, and (most likely) cleaning her five-year-old’s very messy room.
